Steven Major spoke at Queen's University's Global Energy Conference on the panel Navigating the Role of Oil and Gas to a Sustainable Future. He and his fellow panelists shared their insights on the innovation happening within the sector, and the industry's role in the future of energy, sustainability and security in the transition to a net-zero world.
Steven's key takeaway is that Canadian oil and gas can continue to play a huge role in ethically and reliably supplying the world’s increasing energy demand over the next several decades, while also helping to decarbonize the planet and reduce global emissions. Canadian energy companies have invested in oil and gas while also leading the investment charge into the energy transition.
Speakers at the Global Energy Conference also discussed the amazing strides currently being made in (among other things), geothermal energy, hydrogen, carbon capture utilization and sequestration, sustainable infrastructure, small modular nuclear reactors, as well as the imperative of Indigenous participation and ownership of resource development if Canada is to move towards real reconciliation.
QGEC is Canada’s premier undergraduate student conference.
