Chris Skelton's practice relates primarily to large commercial transactions, with a specific focus on private investments and acquisitions, project joint ventures, and project development.

Chris' practice also includes the formation of investment funds and related domestic and international corporate structuring, and various commercial transactions in the energy sector.

Chris acts for U.S. and Canadian private equity firms, and for international and domestic energy firms, including major Canadian, U.S., Asian, European, and global upstream, midstream, and integrated energy and industrial firms.

Hillcore Group in its acquisition of Thompson Construction Group, a leading heavy civil contractor and construction company in Western Canada.
Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc. in its US$468-million sale of all partnership interests of Repsol Canada Energy Partnership to Peyto Exploration & Development Corp.
Nippon Steel Corporation in its $1.15-billion investment in Elk Valley Resources Ltd., a steelmaking coal business to be spun-out as an independent public company from Teck Resources Ltd.
Repsol S.A. and its Canadian subsidiaries in connection with the initial structuring, on-going investments in, and commercial arrangements relating to, the Saint John LNG Terminal (formerly, the "Canaport LNG Terminal") located in Saint John, New Brunswick.
A major global energy firm in connection with its investment in, and establishment of long-term commercial arrangements with, Enerkem Inc., a Canadian biofuel and renewable chemical products company.
Gibson Energy Inc., in the structuring, formation, joint capitalization and development of a diluent recovery crude oil processing plant located in Hardisty, Alberta.
Gibson Energy Inc., in the sale of its Industrial Propane Business for cash consideration of CAD 412m (USD 314.8m) to Superior Plus LP.
Gibson Energy Inc., in the sale of its natural gas liquids wholesale business to PetroGas.
Gibson Energy Inc., in the sale of its Canadian truck transportation business to Trimac Transportation.
Gibson Energy Inc., in the acquisition of Cal-Gas Inc., a western Canadian propane distribution and retail company.
Hillcore Group in the acquisition of Waiward Industrial, a major western Canadian fabrication and construction firm.
Hillcore Group in the acquisition of MTE Logistix, a major Alberta warehousing operation.
Hillcore Group in the acquisition of Treeline Well Services, a western Canadian oilfield services firm.

Wood Automotive Group in the acquisition of multiple automotive dealerships.
The shareholders of Parkland Pipeline Contractors, a western Canadian pipeline construction company, in the sale of Parkland to Tetra Tech, Inc.
Gracorp Capital Advisors in its investment in and development of Eagle Landing commercial area, Chilliwack British Columbia.
Gracorp Capital Advisors in its investment in and development of Windermere commercial area, Southwest Edmonton, Alberta.
Gracorp Capital Advisors in its investment in and development of Tsawwassen Commons Power Centre, Tsawwassen, British Columbia.
Gracorp Capital Advisors in the formation of Connor Clark & Lunn GVest Traditional Infrastructure private equity platform.
Gracorp Capital Advisors in the formation of consortiums for the financing, construction, ownership and operations of Alberta schools under the Alberta Government's "Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement" P3 Project I and Project II.
SCF Partners in the formation of Canadian "Pentastar" acquisition platform, and the purchase of more than twenty oilfield transportation businesses based in Western Canada by such platform.
SCF Partners in the formation of Canadian "Enermax" acquisition platform, and the purchase of more than twenty five oilfield services businesses based in Western Canada by such platform.
SCF Partners in the formation of Canadian "Site Energy" acquisition platform, and the purchase of more than twenty construction and wellsite preparation services businesses based in Western Canada by such platform.
Agriculture: represented a major international agribusiness firm in the acquisition of a Canadian retail distribution centre. 
Onstream Pipeline Inspection Ltd. and Onstream Polymers Inc., and the shareholders thereof, in the sale of all of the assets of Onstream Pipeline Inspection Ltd. and Onstream Polymers Inc. to a purchaser entity sponsored by the private equity fund Novacap TMT IV.
Encana Corp., in its sale of gas pipeline and processing assets in Western Canada's Montney region to a partnership of Veresen Inc. and KKR & Co. LP for approximately $760 million. Veresen Midstream, a joint venture of Veresen Inc. and KKR & Co. LP, will also invest up to $5 billion to support future production in the Montney, a massive liquids-rich natural gas play that straddles the Alberta-British Columbia border. Veresen Midstream will also provide midstream services to Encana in connection with the acquired and future assets.
JAPEX Montney Ltd., a Canadian subsidiary of Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), in the acquisition, from Canadian subsidiaries of PETRONAS, the Malaysian national oil company, of an undivided 10% interest in upstream natural gas assets located in the North Montney area of NE BC and the proposed Pacific Northwest LNG export facility to be built near Prince Rupert, BC.
MEG Energy Corp. in its completed initial public offering of its common shares on August 6, 2010.  A total of 20,000,000 shares were issued at $35.00 per share, for aggregated gross proceeds of $700,000,000.
Plains Midstream Canada ULC, in its $683-million acquisition of all outstanding shares of Rainbow Pipe Line Company ULC.
Purchase of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Trans Tech Contracting Inc. and related to private equity funding and debt syndication.
TSX Group Inc., in its acquisition of NetThruPut Inc. from Enbridge Inc. and Circuit Technology Limited.
Wittke Inc., in its $100-million acquisition by Federal Sign Corporation.
Tri Gas Exploration Inc., in a $159-million friendly takeover by Calpine Corporation.
Synenco Energy Inc., in the approximately $105-million negotiation and execution of a series of agreements related to SinoCanada Petroleum Corporation's acquisition of a 40-percent interest in the Northern Lights Oil Sands Project.
