Lucas Métral practices in commercial litigation, class actions, and both domestic and international arbitration.
He represents clients in complex disputes involving commercial, public, constitutional and regulatory law, with experience in urgent proceedings such as injunctions and safeguard orders. His practice includes a particular focus on cross-border matters and international arbitration.
Before joining Bennett Jones, Lucas worked for several years at a prominent national law firm, where he developed a broad litigation and arbitration practice. He also completed a secondment with a major Canadian financial institution, advising on regulatory and litigation issues from within its legal department. Earlier in his career, he interned in the contracts and intellectual property group of a leading Canadian aeronautics company.
Lucas is a member of the Barreau du Québec and the Barreau de Paris. He holds a combined LL.B./MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in French, European, and International Business Law from Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and conducted research at the CRCHUM under Dr. Pavel Hamet in the field of personalized medicine. Fluent in English, French, and Italian, Lucas regularly publishes on arbitration-related topics and has a strong interest in legal innovation and workflow optimization.
