Bennett Jones, the firm that businesses trust with their most complex legal matters, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new office managing partners who embody our commitment to legal excellence and trusted leadership.
The firm welcomes Preet Gill as Toronto Managing Partner, Kwang Lim as Vancouver Managing Partner and Pascale Dionne-Bourassa as Montréal Managing Partner. All three will continue their practices in their new roles. They will be responsible for overseeing internal office matters and helping align Bennett Jones' outstanding client service across all offices. They will work closely with firm CEO Dominique Hussey.
“Preet, Kwang, and Pascale bring a fresh energy to their new roles that will enrich our firm's legacy and inspire a new generation of legal professionals committed to excellence and innovation," says Dominique.
Preet is the national co-head of Complex Research and Opinions at Bennett Jones and a key member of the Insolvency and Restructuring group. Since first joining the firm as a student in 2007, Preet has been instrumental in high-profile insolvency and corporate restructuring proceedings and prominent litigation matters before all levels of court. Preet has served as a member of the firm’s Partnership Admission Committee, Governance Committee, Cost-Control Committee, Conflicts Committee and Opinions Committee. She has also served as chair of the Toronto Student Committee since 2020. Preet is engaged in numerous external legal organizations, including as an active member of the South Asian Bar Association.
Kwang practises corporate and securities law and has led or been involved in some of Bennett Jones’ most complex and high-profile corporate finance and M&A transactions. Since first joining the firm as a student in 2005, he has served on the firm’s Information Technology Committee and as the firm’s regional co-leader of Canada’s Technology Fast 50 Program. Kwang is highly engaged in business organizations and external legal organizations, including the International Association of Korean Lawyers, and as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s law school.
Pascale has been acting in the capacity of Montréal Managing Partner since she joined Bennett Jones as that office’s first partner in 2022. The Montréal office officially opened in May 2023. Pascale has more than 25 years of experience in civil and commercial litigation as well as construction law. She also has a vast experience in defending class actions in a broad variety of industries in claims involving product liability, consumer products, drugs, automotive parts and claims involving alleged competition law violations. Pascale is one of the few lawyers in the province of Québec with expertise in competition law. Pascale is highly engaged and active in the legal community and has several leadership roles with the Canadian Bar Association's Québec Branch, serving on its Board of Directors.
Preet (in 2022) and Kwang (in 2018) have been recognized as Lexpert Rising Stars—Canada’s leading lawyers under 40. Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Pascale was a founder of d3b lawyers in Montréal. Their terms were effective as of March 31, 2024.
