He assists clients in the oil and gas, electricity and power industries on a broad range of regulatory matters, including environmental assessments and approvals.

Sean regularly advises and represents clients in relation to matters before federal and provincial tribunals, including the Canada Energy Regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission and the Alberta Energy Regulator, as well as the Alberta Court of Appeal. His representative experience includes acting for clients seeking major project approvals for mining and in situ oil sands projects, sour natural gas wells, facilities and pipelines, gas and liquids pipelines, and major electricity infrastructure as well as representing clients in relation to rate and tolling matters.

Prior to re-joining Bennett Jones in 2017, Sean spent several years at Shell Canada Limited, where he also had an opportunity to work in Shell’s London, UK office. While at Shell, he gained further experience in matters related to regulatory and environmental approvals (including oil sands) and provided legal support in relation to the negotiation of Impact Benefit Agreements with Indigenous groups.
