Suzie regularly drafts and negotiates a broad range of commercial technology agreements, including software and related services, technology development, data processing, intellectual property assignment and licensing, outsourcing and procurement, commercial or other strategic collaborations involving technology. She also advises on privacy compliance, supports clients with cybersecurity preparedness and incident response and provides legal guidance on technology and data issues arising in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
Suzie holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and biomedical engineering, during which she developed AI software and an EEG monitoring system for seizure detection. Her legal training was concentrated in intellectual property, information and technology law.
Before joining Bennett Jones, Suzie practiced technology law and intellectual property law at other reputable firms in Toronto, and has experience working in-house as corporate/commercial counsel for one of North America's largest power generators and at one of Canada's largest electronic payments networks. She is also a registered Canadian trademark agent.
